Schedule of events

The night’s fireworks line-up begins at 6pm with a thrilling water spray  a striking image against the setting sun. This is followed by a traditional Aboriginal welcome ceremony by Gadigal Elders. Later there’ll be a spectacular aerial display by flying ace Matt Hall.

A mini fireworks will launch at 9pm for the young kids. This will be followed by ships gliding across the water, each decorated with colour changing light bringing the entire Sydney Harbour into life.

Then at the stroke of midnight, the pyrotechnic display lights up the sky from firing points on the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Sydney Opera House and harbour barges as the New Year sets it sails in Australia for the first time.

6.50 PM –  Fire tug water display

7.30 PM – Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony

8 PM –  Air display

8.30 PM – Pylon projections and lighting effects

9 PM – Family fireworks

9.08 PM – Harbour of Light Parade

9.08 PM – Calling Country

Midnight – Fireworks display
